How to Use the Control-Option-Command-0 Shortcut to Reset the 360° Viewer in Final Cut Pro

Keyboard shortcut: ControlOptionCommand0

When you work with 360° video in Final Cut Pro, the 360° Viewer lets you look around the sphere as if you were wearing a headset. After a lot of panning and tilting, it's easy to lose track of where you are. Control-Option-Command-0 runs Reset Angle, which resets the point of view in the 360° Viewer.

What It Does

Reset Angle puts the 360° Viewer back at its starting point of view. It only changes how you are looking at the footage. It doesn't change the clip, its orientation settings, or your edit, so it's safe to press any time.

Despite the word "angle", this has nothing to do with multicam angles. It's about the viewing angle inside 360° footage.

How to Use It

  1. Open a 360° project and show the 360° Viewer from the View menu in the Viewer.
  2. Look around the scene by dragging in the 360° Viewer, or use the keyboard: Control-Option-Command-Left/Right Arrow to pan and Control-Option-Command-Up/Down Arrow to tilt.
  3. When you want to start over from a known view, press Control-Option-Command-0.

When It Helps

  • Getting your bearings: after checking the sky, the floor and behind the camera, snap back to a consistent view.
  • Comparing shots: reset before reviewing each clip so you judge them all from the same starting view.
  • Reviewing with others: reset so everyone watching starts from the same view.

Tip

Learn the whole family together. The pan and tilt shortcuts plus Reset Angle let you explore 360° footage entirely from the keyboard, which is faster and more repeatable than dragging around in the Viewer.
