Control-Option-Command-] in Final Cut Pro: Roll the 360° Viewer Clockwise
Keyboard shortcut: ControlOptionCommandRight Bracket
The Control-Option-Command-] (Right Bracket) shortcut in Final Cut Pro is Roll Clockwise. It rolls the view clockwise in the 360° Viewer. It has nothing to do with roll edits on the timeline; it's for looking around 360° video.
What the 360° Viewer Is
When you edit 360° video, the regular Viewer shows the whole equirectangular frame, which looks stretched and distorted. The 360° Viewer shows a normal, headset-style view of part of the scene, and you can look around in it. Rolling the view tilts it around your line of sight, like tilting your head to one side.
How to Use It
- Open a 360° project or clip and show the 360° Viewer next to the main Viewer.
- Click in the 360° Viewer so it's active.
- Press Control-Option-Command-] to roll the view clockwise. Press it again to roll further.
- Use the counterclockwise command (Roll Counterclockwise) to roll the other way.
Good to Know
- Rolling the 360° Viewer changes only how you're looking at the footage. It doesn't change the clip or your export.
- If your footage itself is tilted, fix it with the clip's 360° orientation settings in the Inspector, not with the viewer.
- To see all of the 360° Viewer commands and their keys, open the Command Editor with Option-Command-K and search for "360."
Looking for Roll Edits?
A roll edit moves an edit point so one clip gets longer while the other gets shorter. To do that from the keyboard, select an edit point with both sides selected (the Trim tool, T, helps), then press Comma or Period to roll it one frame at a time.
