It’s almost impossible to go for a drive without seeing another driver distracted by their phones. With the introduction of iOS 11, a new feature called Do Not Disturb While Driving attempts to help drivers focus on the road and not their iPhones.
When enabled, Do Not Disturb While Driving limits notifications and changes additional settings to help keep you focused on the road. Open Settings-Do Not Disturb and look for Do Not Disturb While Driving near the bottom of the page. Select how you’d like this feature to be enabled either automatically based on movement, when connected to the cars Bluetooth, or turn it on yourself manually. I recommend starting with the automatic setting and adjusting if needed.
Another significant benefit to using this feature is the auto-reply that is sent to people who message you. Customize the response or use the default that lets them know you’re driving. If they reply with the word “urgent,” then the notification is displayed. Keep yourself and others safe by focusing on the road, not your iPhone.
